Pam Barnhill

A tenacious and tech-savvy executive, Pam Barnhill addresses difficult situations by building creative technology and process solutions with an eye toward fairness and simplicity. She’s currently using this approach to disruptively improve the hospitality industry she knows so well as a second-generation hotelier.

Ms. Barnhill is the first female from either side of her family to not only attend college but to also attend graduate school. Ms. Barnhill, a Carnegie Mellon MBA, held positions with Motorola and PRTM consulting group, and has served as a board member for the Independent Lodging Industry Association (ILIA) since 2011.

In 2002, Ms. Barnhill joined her family’s business, InnSuites Hospitality Trust (IHT). Upon joining IHT, she quickly ascended to the position of President and COO while also founding the IBC Hotels technology platform.

IHT is a real estate investment trust that owns, manages, and provides managed distribution along with soft brand-like benefits including loyalty services inside a proprietary CRS technology platform. In her role at IHT, Ms. Barnhill presides over multiple business divisions:

  • IBC Hotels is technology platform connecting over 6,000 independently-owned member hotels with independent-minded travelers.
  • International Vacation Hotels is a provider of sales, digital marketing services and technology to 1,200 independent hotels.
  • InnSuites Hotel & Suites owns and manages six hotels in Arizona, California, and New Mexico.

While overseeing the marketing, revenue management, and operations of IHT’s hotel collection, Ms. Barnhill was stymied in her efforts to access idea-sharing networks, sales and marketing technology, and cost-effective operations resources as an independent hotelier.

The experience highlighted the opportunity to improve the hospitality industry with innovative technology products. More than half of all hotels worldwide – approximately 300,000 – are independently-owned and operated. Ms. Barnhill is seizing upon the opportunity to serve this audience with the IBC Hotels technology platform.

In 2016, under Ms. Barnhill’s leadership and direction, IBC Hotels was named “Independent Hotel Company of the Year” by Luxury Travel Guide, and the “Best Independent Hotel Booking Agency- USA”. The IBC loyalty program, InnDependent InnCentives, was named “Most Innovative Travel Rewards Program” by The 2016 Hospitality Awards. IBC Hotels was also recognized by LUX magazine as a “company dedicated to meeting guests’ needs and creating a reputation for excellence.”
